Being a new eye health research and development institution and industrial platform jointly built by Longwan District Government and Eye Hospital of WMU, China Eye Valley is the only Visual Industry Innovation Complex in the country. With construction launched in September 2018, the park was officially opened on June 30, 2020. The central Incubator, Expo Exchange Center, and the Smart Manufacturing Park in China Eye Valley have been put into use. In November 2021, it successfully established a characteristic town of Zhejiang Province. Ever since its opening, China Eye Valley implemented in-depth the strategic development requirements of “One Center, Four High” brought about by Zhejiang Provincial Party Comm ittee Secretary Jiajun Yuan. It’s based on the policy advantage for national high-tech zone in Wenzhou and the independent innovation demonstration zone, and relying on the medical treatment, scientific research, education, talents, advantages of Eye Hospital WMU and four state-level innovation platform of science and technology resources. The largest ophthalmic GCP clinical trial platform for phase I-IV in the country is constructed to carry out trials of research on traditional Chinese medicine and ophthalmic devices in real-world and to open up the flexible channel of national medical device registration evaluation. The domestic leading industry-academy-research system is established and development of the entire eye health industrial chain is promoted. Great effort was put in to build a cluster district of world-class R&D, industrial incubation, innovative talents, academic exchange and high-end medical with Chinese style, Zhejiang identification and Wenzhou characteristics.
The overall construction area of the complex Incubation Park is 80000 square meters. The park has rich functions, including hospital clinical platform, scientific research transformation platform, mass entrepreneurship incubation space, and talent training and education system, which provide full chain support for the business of vision entrepreneurship and innovation. Among them, the incubator building is 9 floors high and covers an area of 24000 square meters. It is equipped with one-stop public service hall, roadshow hall, restaurant, standard incubator space, public meeting rooms of different specifications, negotiation rooms, public exchange areas, open mass creative units, fitness areas and other standard facilities required by incubators. Innovative enterprises can stay in bags and enjoy full program supporting services. At the same time, the complex is also equipped with 1000 mu of science and innovation park land, and the first phase of 128 mu of science and Innovation Park Block A will be completed and put into use within 2 years. After completion, it will provide industrialization space and policy support for enterprises graduating from Incubation Park, build scale enterprises and leading enterprises, further expand the scale of eyesight industry, and form agglomeration scale effect.
The project of the Zone B of the Science and Technology lnnovation Park is started at the end of 2022, with an overall planned area of 650 mu (an net area around 238 mu).lt is an innovative R&D and production-research integration park focusing on eye health industrialization. lt is planned to construct the headquarters of eye health park, the science and technology innovation diagnosis and treatment center, international exhibition center, the science and technology innovation R&D base, comprehensive service center and the science and technology innovation industrial accelerator to attract the top eye health enterprises and growing sci-tech enterprises, cultivate the advantages of high-end resources cluster in the headerquarter, and build a new engine of regional economic development.
China Eye Valley Expo Exchange Center is located in a prominent position at the entrance of Wenzhou Longwan International Airport, with a total construction area of 16759.47㎡. It integrates the "four hearts" function of listing and releasing center, financial support center, price formation center and exhibition center, and has the functions of "four platforms": academic forum platform, exchange meeting platform, salon platform and talent introduction platform. It aims to create the forever lasting international eye health medicine Expo trade and exhibition center, with a combination of online and offline, and with eye health as the theme. Currently, there are 23 companies in the exhibition halls on the 1st to 3rd floors, and 15 companies have offices on the 4th to 11th floors, including 11 multinational companies and Fortune 500 companies, 8 listed companies.
Smart Manufacturing Park in China Eye Valley is located at the intersection of Jinhai One Road and Mingzhu Road in Longwan Airport New Area. The surrounding S1 light rail (open now) and S2 light rail (under construction) are unimpeded, forming a three-dimensional road network together with Ningbo-Taizhou-Wenzhou Highway double line, Shen-Hai Highway double line, Binhai Avenue, Longwan International Airport and other transportation modes, integrating aviation, high-speed rail, light rail and highway, and instantly connecting the whole city.
The construction area is 40,000 square meters. Currently the intelligent transformation, staff dormitory buildings and dining halls and other public supporting facilities are basically completed in the park. The park will invite ophthalmic medicine, ophthalmic medical device, health lighting appliance and other manufacturing enterprises.
We signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Bascom Palmer Ophthalmic Center, which has been the No. 1 ophthalmic specialty in the United States, to build an eye sight research center with world-class level, and based on this, we will open all-round cooperation in scientific research, talent training, achievement transformation and other aspects in the field of eye sight optics.
Cooperate with Jackson lab, a top scientific research institution in the world, to build an ophthalmic precision medicine laboratory, give full play to the world-class scientific research level of Jackson lab and the strong advantages of clinical and translational medical research resources of Wenyi University and Wenzhou Institute of biomaterials, Chinese Academy of Sciences in the field of ophthalmic precision medicine, so as to promote the development of health industry.
Wenzhou Medical University, as a representative of the universities, actively through the establishment of cooperative relations with foreign countries, the introduction of advanced clinical transformation mode, to serve the healthy development of the optometry industry in China. For example, the China France international joint research center was established with vision group, a giant of vision industry, to focus on the key technology and clinical transformation of clinical personalized correction, and to establish and improve the operation mode of "vision medical demand scientific research and development achievement transformation market application".
The joint research center for biomaterials and regenerative medicine between China and Australia was jointly established with CSIRO. It is committed to the construction of tissue-engineered cornea and ophthalmic nanodrug delivery system. It conducts joint research on the international cutting-edge scientific issues such as the transformation and application of biomaterials and regenerative medicine key technologies in Ophthalmology, so as to create a pool of talents It is an international cooperation base in the field of biomaterials and regenerative medicine transformation with three functions of academic development and social service.
Ophthalmic optics is not only the invention and creation of Wenzhou Medical University, but also a "golden card" of our city. Wenzhou relies on Medical University to train optometry talents, and relies on the optometry Hospital Affiliated to Wenzhou Medical University to promote the special research in the field of optometry. At present, Wenzhou is in the leading position of the joint research and development of Ophthalmology and optometry science and technology, as well as industry university research. In 2008, the hospital was approved as the engineering research center of the Ministry of education for modern optometry technology and equipment, the national optometry Engineering Technology Research Center in 2012, the Zhejiang intelligent medical engineering technology research center in 2015, and the Zhejiang clinical functional materials and Diagnostic Devices Engineering Technology Research Center in 2017.
In 2018, the hospital was approved as the National Key Laboratory of ophthalmic optics and visual science, forming a research team focusing on myopia research, visual function research, basic and clinical research of ametropia correction and fundus disease research. In 2019, the ophthalmology hospital affiliated to Wenzhou Medical University was recognized by the Ministry of science and technology as the national clinical medical research center. It has set a benchmark in clinical research evaluation, guidelines and standards, clinical transformation and promotion, and health policy basis. It is the only unit with three national research platforms in the field of ophthalmology in China. It is also a basic ophthalmology research and clinical research center in China Research and industrial transformation of the national platform in one unit.

Optometric Medicine & Ophthalmology is not only the invention and creation of Wenzhou Medical University, but also a "golden business card" of Wenzhou city. Wenzhou Medical University has trained numerous optometry medicine & ophthalmology talents, and relies on the Eye Hospital WMU to promote the research in the field of optometry and ophthalmology. At the present, Eye Hospital WMU is in the leading position of the joint research and development of Ophthalmology and optometry science and technology. In 2019, the Eye Hospital affiliated to Wenzhou Medical University was recognized by the Ministry of science and technology as the National Clinical Research Center for Eye Disease. Thus, hospital is setting a high benchmark in clinical research evaluation, guidelines and standards, clinical translational science and health policy basis when comparing to counterparts. It is the only hospital with three national research platforms in the field of ophthalmology in China. It is the only Institute which integrates basic research ,clinical research and industrialization national platforms.
